UPDATED: Danone to close plants in Hungary

French food group and dairy product manufaturer Danone is planning to close plants in Europe, with cuts that are expected to eliminate 155 jobs in Hungary by the end of 2015.

Danone said on Wednesday that as a result of falling fresh dairy product sales in the European Union, the company might close plants in Italy, Germany and Hungary,cutting 325 jobs.

The closure is planned to reach Hungary in the second half of 2015, however Hungarian commercial operations would not end in the country.

The world's largest yoghurt maker told international news agency Reuters that the decision was made due to lasting economic dowturn in Europe and closures will reach units in Casale Cremasco (Italy), Hagenow (Germany) and Budapest (Hungary).
