The state will issue a new tender for retail tobacco sales in 1,417 communities in Hungary from which no applications were received in the course of the initial tender for such sales, National Tobacco Trade Nonprofit, which is overseeing the establishment of a state monopoly over the retail sale of tobacco products, told MTI on Friday. National Tobacco Trade Nonprofit said that the deadline for submission of applications authorizing the retail sale of tobacco in these 1,417 communities will be 30 days from Friday. The organization noted that 15,633 applications for the retail sale of tobacco were submitted by the February 22 deadline stipulated in the initial tender. Parliament adopted legislation in September 2012 establishing a state monopoly on the retail sale of tobacco products on July 1, 2013.
