Resurrection for Sólyom? New owner pledges December launch

Analysis

Wobbling new Hungarian airline Sólyom Airways has secured a new owner, which the company says will enable its first flight to take off next month. The organization is called Charity March and is backed by Hungarian business interests in Africa, its head Tamás Weisz told news portal Origo.hu.

Weisz noted that talks on the matter have been ongoing for a month, but declined revealing the amount of money invested citing business confidentiality.

Charity Watch has already been added to corporate records as an owner and now sees the actual launch of the airline in December with two planes.

Sólyom earlier seemed to have fully collapsed as it turned out that it failed to secure necessary permits and when the earlier identified Omani investors backed out of the project. Sector insiders remain widely skeptical about the viability of the venture.
