Report: Wizz Air denies report of cuts in Moscow flights

Transport

MTI said today that Hungary-based low-cost airline Wizz Air reacted to a report that it would be reducing the number of Budapest-Moscow flights to one a day, reportedly saying that this was not actually a reduction in its schedule.

Russian website Travel.ru reported yesterday that Wizz Air was cutting back the number of Budapest-Moscow flights to one a day, as of January 11, in an apparent response to declining Russian tourism.

According to MTI, the airline said that it did not reduce the number of flights, as there has always been just one flight a day on the route in its winter timetable, in force from the end of October. The reason for the confusion, the airline reportedly said, was that it had raised the number of flights to two a day during the holidays because of higher demand.
