Registered businesses up just 1.2% y.o.y. for 2013

The number of registered business entities in Hungary rose 1.20% year-on-year to 1,827,692 in 2013, according to statistics released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH). The data show 112,999 new businesses were registered last year and 91,702 were deregistered. 

Mandatory liquidation procedures were launched against 10,039 companies during the year and companies started 7,101 voluntary liquidation procedures. At the end of 2013, 65,564 voluntary, mandatory and bankruptcy procedures were underway, most launched more than 12 months earlier.

The data show the number of smallholders deregistered last year reached almost 106,000 or more than one-quarter of the total. The number of registered budget-funded institutions also fell sharply, by 11.3% y.o.y. to 12,952.
