Liszt Ferenc International operator Budapest Airport topped out an expansion of its cargo base last week, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The EUR 30 million expansion of Bud Cargo City will raise the airport's annual cargo capacity from 250,000 to 300,000 tonnes, said deputy-CEO for development Rene Droese.

Last year, Bud Cargo City's cargo volume rose 6% to around 200,000 tonnes.

Budapest Airport will inaugurate a parking lot in front of Terminal 2 in the summer and plans to open Terminal 1 to passenger traffic in 2026, Droese said. Preparations are underway for a Terminal 3 project, he added.
