OTP Bank Ukraine closes six branches due to civil unrest
OTP Bank Ukraine, the Ukrainian unit of Hungary-based OTP Bank, has kept six of the bank's 140 branches closed on Thursday due to the intensifying civil conflict taking place in the country, OTP Bank Ukraine's press department has informed national news service MTI.
OTP Ukraine CEO Tamás Hak-Kovács told Reuters on Wednesday that the bank had closed four of its branches due to deadly clashes between anti-government demonstrators and police in the capital city of Kiev and elsewhere in the country.
OTP Bank Ukraine's press department confirmed on Thursday that the bank is prepared for the potential devaluation of the Ukrainian hryvnia as a result of the unrest.
