Leave the devices on: Wizz Air implements EASA policy

Analysis

Per an official announcement from the company, as of today the use of electronic devices will be allowed for the duration of all Wizz Air flights; the chance is due to some significant tweaking of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) guidelines for European Union flights, as newly published in early December 2013.

One catch, though: Due to said EASA guidelines, any devices must remain in “flight mode,” i.e. no transmission/reception of data. On the other hand, one may crush candy to one’s heart’s content.

Though the guidelines are voluntary, the EASA guidance was officially adopted by Hungary’s National Transportation Authority (NKH) shortly after its release.
