Vueling, the low-fare unit of Spanish airline Iberia, is eyeing troubled Hungarian national carrier Malev, daily Nepszabadsag said on Friday, without citing any sources.

The paper wrote that Vueling, which was also named as a party interested in Malev by business weekly Figyelo, had already wound up talks with the National Development Ministry and had prepared a contract and a business plan. Vueling’s board is to take a decision on the matter in February, it added.

Vueling could take over Malev by the time the airline starts its summer timetable, Nepszabadsag said.
