Hungarian subsidiaries of Alstom currently under criminal investigation

Analysis

The Hungarian subsidiaries of French electricity and rail transport company Alstom could be next in line in an investigation by the U.K.’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO) regarding alleged corruption, Reuters reported yesterday.

Although charges have not yet been filed against Alstom Hungária the proceedings would constitute the third phase of a lengthy investigation that began in the United States and spans nearly 15 years. Alstom Network U.K. has already been charged with corruption in relation to contracts unlawfully obtained in India, Poland and Tunisia and charges were also filed late last year against Alstom Power Ltd. for alleged bribery in Lithuania.
