HUF 3.1 bln tobacco plant opens in Debrecen
Hungarian tobacco company Róna Dohányfeldolgozó Kft. inaugurated a HUF 3.1 bln plant in Debrecen in eastern Hungary on Tuesday, Hungarian new agency MTI reported. The plant will employ 440 people, said Marc Wagener, managing director of Luxembourg-based Vandewyck Tobacco.
The company was awarded a HUF 323 mln European Union grant for the project. The plant will turn out 8 bln cigarettes and 700-800 tons of lose leaf tobacco a year, said the Hungarian unit's managing director Géza Bajusz. Cigarette output will account for 12% market share in Europe, he added. Revenue at the plant is set to reach HUF 15 bln a year with one-quarter coming from exports.
