GE to expand Budapest center

GE is scheduled to raise headcount at its service center in Budapest by about 1,000 as of this year. More hires are needed given that all of GE's businesses are represented in Hungary, where it employs more than 13,500 people, due in large part to the country’s highly qualified workforce, Shane Fitzsimons, head of GE's Global Operations, told online economic daily napi.hu today.

The center opened a year ago with 200 employees and currently employs a staff of 900. The center handles invoicing, IT, HR and supply chain for GE's operations in approximately 40 countries throughout Europe and the Middle East as well as Russia.

The center is building another unit next to its base on Váci út, an office corridor in the capital. The new staff is expected to move in this summer.
