Budapest Airport, which operates the capital's Liszt Ferenc International Airport, expects passenger numbers to exceed 9 million by mid-December, reaching a new record, Hungarian business daily Napi Gazdaság reported today, quoting communications director Mihály Hardy.

The paper said passenger numbers rose by a year-on-year 7.2% in January-October. The previous record numbers of 8.9 million were reached in 2011, when the now defunct Hungarian airline Malév was still in operation, Hardy added.
