BP cloud conference sees silver lining

Though most Hungarian do not know that they use cloud services every day – by using their smartphones, tablets and PCs – businesses can no longer remain ignorant of the technology, according to attendees of a September 23 conference on the cloud economy at the Kempinski Hotel in Budapest.

EuroCloud Day 2014 on September 23 was intended to introduce the business aspects of cloud technology, and also show how the technology affects Hungarian economy.

All the presenters jointly agreed that Budapest is on the forefront of developing cloud technology as the capital boasts competitive competence regarding the research capacity on the global market of cloud services.

The cloud touches all of us, as the data on our smartphones and tablets are constantly being synchronized “up” into our personal cloud, to make sure that we can retrieve our data anytime we lose our change our gadgets. Even if users re not aware of them, cloud technology and services are vital to today’s economy and society, especially in the areas of the competitive SME sector, digital public services and new business models.

The conference explored how the cloud phenomenon can contribute to the competitiveness and development of the domestic SME sector. Presenters also discussed the role that the Hungarian state ought to play in establishing a digital economy that is ready for the operation and maintenance of cloud services.
