BAT launches production at HUF 9 bln plant
British American Tobacco (BAT) launched test production at a HUF 9bn plant in Pécs, southwest Hungary, yesterday.
BAT repurposed a 8,850sqm plant in the city that it acquired from Finnish electronics maker Elcoteq.
The plant is staffed by about 200 people from the 400 who work at BAT's existing base in the city, but a decision on making new hires could be taken later, said company spokesman Attila Tóth.
The plant is making cigarillos.
