Hungarian dairy producer Alföldi Tej and  Netherlands-based dairy company FrieslandCampina yesterday signed an agreement detailing Alföldi Tej’s acquisition of FrieslandCampina’s dairy plant in Debrecen, in eastern Hungary, the companies announced in a press release.

Under the agreement, the buyer expressed a commitment to keep the employees of the plant, as well maintain production. The price of the sale was not disclosed at the press conference following the execution of the agreement, which has been approved by the authorities.

“The current agreement is perfectly in line with the company’s efforts to retain jobs and contribute to the sustainable dairy industry of Debrecen,” FrieslandCampina CEO Péter Szautner said. “With this agreement, we have shown again that the firm is committed to the Hungarian market, to serving Hungarian consumers and to manufacturing products in Hungary,” the CEO added.
