Number of Chinese Tourists to Hungary Nearly Quadruples

The number of Chinese tourists who arrived in Hungary in January-July nearly quadrupled from the same period a year earlier, the Hungarian Tourism Agency told news wire MTI on Thursday.
Budapest was the most popular destination for Chinese visitors, but the cities of Szentendre, on the outskirts of the capital, and Pecs, in the southwest, were also big draws.
Television shows have drummed up interest in Hungary among Chinese visitors, the agency said.
The number of South Korean visitors to Hungary also rose four-fold during the period, while the number of American tourists increased 35%.
Close to half of visitors from the United States were over the age of 45, while most Asian visitors were under 45.
