On-trade bounceback, Unicum Barista sales lift Zwack earnings

Drinks

Zwack Unicum, Hungary's biggest spirits maker, booked after-tax profit of HUF 3.5 billion in Q1-Q3 of its business year started April 1, nearly double the HUF 1.9 bln in the base period, supported by the recovery of sales in restaurants and bars and the launch of Unicum Barista in stores, state news wire MTI writes, citing an earnings report released on Thursday.

Net sales rose 35% to HUF 14.8 bln as restrictions at restaurants and pubs, which generate about half of Zwack's sales in Hungary, were eased. The off-trade rollout of Unicum Barista, Zwack's newest product, a blend of its flagship herbal liqueur with coffee, also bolstered the increase.

Zwack's export sales climbed 31% to HUF 1.7 bln, with deliveries to Italy "pivotal".

Zwack said it expects a "further solid increase" in sales in the last quarter of its business year, adding that full-year results are likely to exceed the target.
