Automotive Hungary opens; two milestones for Audi

Almost 200 automotive industry suppliers are showing at the Automotive Hungary trade show, which opened at Hungexpo in Budapest on Thursday. Chief patron of the expo, Foreign Trade State Secretary Péter Szijjártó announced at the opening of the event.

 

According to Szijjártó, Hungary's 620 automotive industry companies employ more than 100,000 people to turn out €15 billion worth of product a year, accounting for 10% of GDP. Exports generate 92% of their revenue, Szijjártó added.

Cataloguing recent developments at the production bases in Hungary of Audi, Daimler, Opel and Suzuki, he said every workplace at a carmaker's plant creates 4-5 workplaces at suppliers. He also listed investments at the local units of Bridgestone, Hankook and Jabil that are creating hundreds of jobs this year.

The Automotive Hungary International Trade Exhibition for Automotive Industry Suppliers is open until November 9.

Two impressive milestones for Audi Hungaria
Audi Hungaria Motor Kft in announced yesterday the finishing of its 25 millionth engine and its 500,000th TT model. The 500,000th car assembled at the Győr production plant was one of the 500 exclusive TTS competition models manufactured on the occasion of the production anniversary of Audi's compact sports car.

The company said the Győr plant currently produces some 235 engine variations.
