MKEH director dismissed amid e-till controversy

In Hungary

National Economy Minister Mihály Varga has dismissed Péter Király from his position as general director of Hungary’s Commercial Licensing Office (MKEH), the ministry announced yesterday.

Until the switchover to e-tills is completed, the work of the Office will be overseen by Ferenc Vágújhelyi as ministerial commissioner.

As reported earlier by Econews, the MKEH withdrew permits for Alt Cash’s SAM4S NR-300 ONLINE and Japan Cash Company’s S&E NR-300 ONLINE tills on January 24 because they lacked the built-in tax-check mechanism.

The government has required almost all businesses in Hungary to install e-tills that communicate electronically with the tax office in an effort to crack down on tax fraud.
