N. Macedonia to Subsidize Flights to 5 European Destinations
North Macedonia's government said last week it will subsidize flights linking the capital Skopje with five destinations in Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, and Slovenia, according to a report by Seenews.
The flights will be operated by Hungary's low-cost Wizz Air and Germany's Lufthansa, which applied to the government's call for subsidies for new routes, North Macedonia's government said in a press release.
Wizz Air will connect Skopje to Luxembourg, Germany's Stuttgart, Austria's Salzburg and Slovenia's Ljubljana as of November 1.
The air carrier will offer three flights per week on each route. Lufthansa will start offering ten flights per week from Skopje to Frankfurt on April 23.
The government will pay to the air carriers EUR 7 per passenger for the new flights by the end of 2025.
