UBM Italy Trading Volume to Reach 100,000 Tonnes in 2023/24

UBM Holding expects crop trading volume of its newly established Italian unit to reach 100,000 tonnes in the 2023/2024 business year and 180,000 tonnes in the following year, the listed agribusiness said on Wednesday, according to a report by news agency MTI.

The unit, UBM Italy, will trade in maize, wheat, soy, and barley, all feed components, as well as sunflower seed, rapeseed, and soy meal.

In the long term, the annual trading volume of the unit could exceed 500,000 tonnes, CEO Péter Horváth said.

Last year, Hungary exported around 840,000 tonnes of wheat, 1.1 million tonnes of maize, and 310,000 tonnes of barley to Italy, UBM noted.

UBM's trade office in Milan will be the company's fifth after the ones in Hungary, Romania, Serbia, and Austria.

With annual output of 575,000 tonnes, UBM is Hungary leading feed maker. It also is the country's biggest trader of feed components, with annual contracts for 1.7 million tonnes.
