Bulgaria Trade Deficit Slightly Widens in Aug

Bulgaria's trade deficit rose to BGN 704.9 million (EUR 360.4 million) in August, slightly widening from the BGN 647.30 million gap in the corresponding month of the previous year, preliminary estimates from the country's statistics institute showed.

Exports increased by 40.5% to BGN 7,873.8 million, as sales to the EU were up by 46.1% and those to third countries were up by 30.8%.

Meanwhile, imports advanced at a slower 37.2% to 8,578.7 million on the back of purchases from both the EU (37.5%) and non-EU countries (36.8%).
