MoHu 'Operating Smoothly'

Hungary's municipal waste management system is "operating smoothly" after MoHu, a unit of oil and gas company MOL, took over a 35-year concession on July 1, MoHu CEO Zsolt Pethő told journalists, according to the conservative daily Magyar Nemzet.
Pethő said contracts had been signed with all of the companies that provided municipal waste management services before July 1 as well as an additional 169 businesses.
A further 30 agreements are under negotiation, he added. The contracted companies each work with 2-3 subcontractors, meaning 400-600 companies are involved in the new waste management system, he said.
Collection sites for metal and electronic waste are operating in more than 100 settlements across the country, Pethő added.
The concession dovetails with MOL's strategy to invest in low-carbon, circular economy businesses.
