The Ministry of Energy Affairs on Thursday announced the launch of subsidies for companies that make investments to recycle products that fall under the extended producer responsibility regime rolled out in Hungary on July 1, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Applicants may apply for up to HUF 300 million by the August 14 deadline.

The subsidies are for the management and recycling of waste from products for which manufacturers are required to pay a product fee under the European Union's "polluter-pays principle".

The government has earmarked HUF 3.3 billion for the subsidies, the tender website shows.
