Paks operation unaffected by summer warming of Danube

The summer warming of the Danube does not affect the safety or the production process and technology of the Paks nuclear power plant, MVM Paksi Atomerőmű Zrt. announced, according to Világgazdaság.

Due to the heated Danube water, the condensers of the units of the plant operate with somewhat lower efficiency.

This phenomenon is an entirely normal part of the operation, observed every warm summer, the nuclear power plant company announced.

As a consequence of all this, there is a 20-40 megawatt deviation per block compared to the performance typical in the winter period, but no intentional production reduction (so-called offloading in technical terms) takes place.
