Hungary Launches Construction Materials Database
The National Economy Ministry on Wednesday announced the launch of a database of building materials with evaluations of their environmental impact, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
EMI Nonprofit, a state-owned certification company for the construction sector, will run the database in cooperation with the construction industry association Évosz, evaluating the environmental impact of building materials based on information provided voluntarily by producers.
The database will also allow buyers to weigh delivery distances and recycling potential as well as quality factors.
The database and streamlined environmental assessment are expected to boost demand for locally-made building materials with a low environmental impact, the ministry said, encouraging Hungarian building materials companies to participate in the initiative.
