Estonia Retail Sales Fall Further in December
Estonian retail trade shrank by 5.4% year-on-year in December, after an 8.8% drop in the previous month, which was the steepest drop since May, data from the Tallinn-based Statistics Estonia (SE) showed on Tuesday.
Sales have been falling since September 2022. Retail turnover decreased the most, by 14%, in other specialized stores selling predominantly computers and their accessories, books, sports equipment, games, and toys, the agency said. There was a notable 7% lower sale in stores selling manufactured goods.
On a monthly basis, retail trade jumped 11.3% in December, rebounding sharply from a 0.7% fall in November due to the Christmas and year-end sales.
For the full year 2023, retail trade declined by 8%.
