4iG, Huawei Sign MoU on Joint Cloud Services Platform

Listed ICT company 4iG on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding with the local unit of China's Huawei on the establishment of a joint cloud services platform for local businesses and big companies from China and Asia with a presence in the region, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
The sides are also exploring the possibility of establishing joint innovation centers for the research, development, and application of artificial intelligence, 4iG said.
Huawei Technologies chief executive for Hungary and the Western Balkans region Gao Weijie said the "fair, transparent, objective and friendly" market environment in Hungary motivated Huawei to continuously increase its local investments.
4iG CEO Péter Fekete said the company's ties with Huawei had grown closer after its acquisition of Vodafone Magyarorszag, and now a "new chapter" was opening in that cooperation that could contribute to Hungary's digital development and the strengthening of economic ties between Hungary and China.
The MoU was signed by the two executives in the presence of National Economy Minister Márton Nagy who called 4iG one of the country's "national champions", with a presence in the Western Balkans, Germany, Poland and Bulgaria, in addition to Hungary.
The MoU was signed during a visit to Budapest by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
