Guest Numbers Climb 4% in July

The number of guests at tourism accommodations in Hungary rose 4% in July from the same month a year earlier, Zoltán Guller, the head of the Hungarian Tourism Agency, told news site Index.hu, accoring to state news wire MTI.

The number of domestic travelers fell 4%, while the number of foreign visitors jumped 19%, Guller said.

Anonymous cellphone data show the number of day-trippers to Lake Balaton has "risen significantly", he added.

The Central Statistical Office (KSH) will publish July data on tourism accommodations on September 4.
